Christy Ford, LPC - Certified IFS Therapist

About Me

I became a therapist because I've seen firsthand how healing changes lives. Over the past 19 years, I've had the privilege of walking alongside hundreds of individuals and couples through some of their hardest moments, and watching them come out stronger, more self-aware, and more connected to the people they love.

I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Towson University in 2005 and began my career in community mental health settings. That early work gave me a strong foundation in understanding how people cope, adapt, and heal. I became licensed in Virginia in 2014 and Florida in 2023, allowing me to serve clients across multiple states through both in-person and telehealth sessions.

I found Internal Family Systems (IFS) when I experienced its effectiveness in my own personal work. I knew right away that I wanted to bring this approach to my clients. I've since completed IFS Level 2 training and earned my certification as an IFS Certified Therapist, one of only 21 in Virginia and one of only 23 in Florida. I'm also trained in IFIO (Intimacy from the Inside Out), which brings IFS to couples work.

As a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), I bring specialized expertise to working with trauma and PTSD, dissociative disorders, and other complex conditions that require a gentle, informed approach. I also work extensively with clients navigating anxiety, depression, eating disorders, substance abuse, and domestic violence recovery.

As a neurodivergent individual myself, I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to my work with neurodivergent clients. I understand firsthand what it's like to move through a world that wasn't designed for the way your brain works. My practice is neurodiverse-affirming, and I'm committed to creating an environment where you feel seen, understood, and accepted as you are.

My Philosophy

I believe that every person has an innate capacity for healing. My role isn't to "fix" you. It's to create a space where you can reconnect with the wise, compassionate Self that already exists within you. From that place of Self-energy, real change becomes possible.

I also believe therapy should be collaborative. You are the expert on your own life, and I bring the clinical expertise and training to guide our work together. The methods we use, whether that's IFS parts work, mindfulness techniques, or faith-integrated approaches, will always be tailored to what feels right for you. I'm also committed to providing a neurodivergent-affirming space where diverse ways of thinking, processing, and experiencing the world are respected.

On a Personal Note

When I'm not in the therapy room, you can find me enjoying time with my family, spending time outdoors, and continuing my own growth. I'm a lifelong learner, and I believe the best therapists are those who do their own inner work.
