Christy Ford

Dorothy, or as she is known, Christy, earned her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Towson University in 2005. She became licensed in 2009 in Maryland as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She moved to Virginia in 2014 at which time she also became licensed in VA as a Licensed Professional Counselor. She has worked with adolescents and adults in a variety of settings, including inpatient hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics, residential centers, drug treatment centers, and intensive outpatient programs. She is also a Virginia Counseling Board-certified Supervisor for therapy residents.

 

Over her 15 year career as a therapist Christy has worked with a variety of populations, including but not limited to those with Depression, Bipolar and other Affective Disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Dissociative Identity Disorder and other trauma-related disorders, Eating Disorders, Anxiety Disorders, Personality Disorders, Substance Abuse issues, and domestic violence. Christy primarily uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, specifically Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as a person-centered approach when treating clients. In addition she provides a faith based approach to aide those seeking a more spiritual treatment.
